The Napa County Safe Routes to Schools program builds upon over a decade of proven strategies to increase the number of youth walking and riding to school, and make active-transportation choices safer and more appealing to students and their parents. By incorporating scientific surveys and school-specific analysis of barriers, along with a comprehensive education and encouragement program, we aim to double the target audience walking and biking rate – from 10% to 20% of trips to or from school – in three years.
